REMOTE ACCESS - ULTRA VNC
Menu
location: GO >
Programs >
Remote Access > VNC
VNC will allow someone to take control of your computer remotely.
The controlling computer
(client) must perform the following:
1) Download VNCVIEWER.EXE from
here .
2) Run the downloaded file as follows: vncviewer.exe -listen
3) Forward/open port 5500 on the client computer's router/firewall.
The computer being controlled (host) must perform the following steps:
1) Boot from this CD
2) Choose one of the two 'Allow control' options on the menu as pictured
below

Allow control now will invite anyone of your choosing to control your
computer.
Allow control on every boot will allow anyone of
your choosing to control your computer without you having to be present at the
computer.
When the connection is made, the client
computer will see the host's screen as in the example below.
The top toolbar provides many functions such as file
transfer and chat. Clicking the toolbar mouse icon will disable remote keyboard,
mouse, and display and will improve screen speed. You may transfer files to/from
the host computer but directory transfer is not yet supported. If an entire directory
needs transferred, then zip it first using the File Manager. Upon initial remote
connection, the useful Desktop Info wallpaper will not appear because VNC
disables it. Click GO >
System > Wallpaper Refresh to restore it.

Another more complex scenario would be a company with multiple people manning helpdesks. Each employee providing "help" needs to connect to multiple customers at various locations. The helpdesk office may look like this:
Employee # Computer
IP Address Run VNCVIEWER.EXE as follows (defaults
to port 5500 if not entered)
1
192.168.1.2
vncviewer -listen
2
192.168.1.3
vncviewer -listen 5501
3
192.168.1.4
vncviewer -listen 5502
4
192.168.1.5
vncviewer -listen 5503
Setup example for employee #2:
1) Copy vncviewer.exe to somewhere convenient on employee #2's computer
2) Right-click on vncviewer.exe then choose "Copy"
3) Right-click on a blank area of the Windows Desktop, then click "Paste
Shortcut"
4) Right-click on the shortcut you just created, then click "Properties"
5) Add 5501 to the end of the "Target" as pictured below:
6) Open port 5501 on the helpdesk office router
(in this case a D-Link brand) as pictured below:

7) The
person needing tech support must boot from the CD, then click
GO, Programs,
Remote Control - VNC, Allow
control now and type in the public IP address or domain name of the
helpdesk company followed by 5501 as the following examples show:
63.121.239.244::5501 -or-
helpdesk.com::5501
Notice that there are two colons before 5501.
