This CD contains operating system files from Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 service pack 2.  When you boot from this CD, you are actually running a condensed, limited-feature version of Windows Server.  There is no support for sound, printing or dial-up modems. (These features may be provided in the future.) Keep in mind that the purpose of this CD is for backup, technical support, and troubleshooting.  Since the operating system is loaded from the CD, whether or not your computer contains Windows 95,98,NT,2000,XP or nothing at all is irrelevant. All that matters is there is sufficient memory. If there is only 64MB, the file-based write filter will be decreased to 4MB and the system may or may not boot all critical components. In cases where the video is sharing system memory, you may recoup some of this memory by decreasing the video memory size in the system BIOS.  Keep in mind that almost any computer could be booted from this CD by merely inserting an additional 64MB or 128MB memory stick into the motherboard.

Whether or not your particular computer will be able to connect to the internet and/or network will depend upon your network card's compatibility. Most network cards are supported with this CD but your card may not be supported if it is too new. Secondly, for network/internet access, your network must have a DHCP server so that the computer will receive an IP address compatible with your network. You may assign an address manually if you don’t have DHCP by clicking GO, System, Network, Network Configurator

If you need a CD which works with a particular piece of hardware, a custom-built CD can be prepared for a charge.
