The Portable Office Suite is a collection of the following programs:
1. OpenOffice  by Sun Microsystems
    (word processor, spreadsheet, presentation, drawing)
2. Firefox Web browser  by Mozilla.org
3. Thunderbird e-mail client by Mozilla.org
4. Sunbird calendar by Mozilla.org

You can install the Office Suite to a portable USB drive or flash pen which will allow you to work on your documents anywhere a computer is available. The computer need not have these applications installed because they will run directly from your portable drive without installing anything!  How many times have you wanted to check your e-mail or type a letter on someone else's computer but couldn't because it was not functioning?  When you boot from Alan's Ultimate Boot CD, it doesn't matter how dysfunctional a computer is because of viruses, missing programs, bloated software, etc. You will be able to run your programs reliably anywhere.
